About Us
Club Moai is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, based in Pasadena, that runs monthly social groups and summer camps for teenagers with special needs. Founded in 2019, Luke and Brooke Aloe were inspired by their brother who has autism. Many teenagers with Autism and other disabilities feel isolated and struggle with loneliness, so we created Club Moai to help our participants make friends and feel like a part of a community. In addition, our volunteer high school buddies and counselors have learned to better understand, empathize, and form friendships with people in our community with disabilities, all while learning how they can make a positive impact on other people’s lives!
In January of 2021, we were accepted into the The Dragon Kim Foundation’s prestigious fellowship program. Through this program, we received a $5,000 grant and a seven month-long, hands-on leadership training designed to help us launch our summer camp, Camp Moai, and expand our community impact. As a result, we ran one week of summer camp, with 40 participating campers and 30 high school volunteer counselors, free of charge to our participants. Luke Aloe graduated high school in 2023, and since then, Brooke has fully taken over and runs the monthly events and the annual summer camps.
In April of 2021, Club Moai became a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. To fund our summer camp for this year's participants free of charge, we plan on fundraising and applying for community grants.
